7:00 pm - Music on Main: Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real with Fishing Music Band @ Victor City Park
August 4th marks the Music on Main debut of one of Teton Valley’s favorite adopted musical sons, Lukas Nelson, and his band Promise of the Real. Numerous visits to Grand Targhee in recent years have earned Lukas and his band many local fans, and they will earn many more new fans among those in attendance at Music on Main. Lukas’s high energy guitar licks and his catchy original tunes tell you he is the real deal, a talented 21 year-old forging his own place in the music industry. Nelson clearly has genetics to thank for his striking, nasal tenor, but his own hard work developed his virtuoso guitar skills.
Promise of the Real includes veteran musicians Corey McCormick (bass), Anthony LoGerfo (drums), and Tato Melgar (percussion). At 34, McCormick, who played with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, is an elder statesman compared to Nelson, but he’s impressed by Nelson’s chops. “He’s a great singer-songwriter and an amazing performer.” Promise of the Real’s blues-rock sound is generally more edgy and in your face, but they frequently perform beautiful country love songs that are reminiscent of Lukas’ legendary father. Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real will be fresh off a nationwide, star-studded tour and are sure to be excited to get back to the Tetons. Prepare to become a fan yourself!
