6:00 pm - Citizen Advocate Training Session @ Teton County Library
How does a concerned citizen write a letter to the editor? How does public testimony fit in the legislative process? How can individuals testify and make a difference in their communities? Collaborating together the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance and the Western Wolf Coalition will hold a training session on these important citizen advocacy skills.
With local elections coming up this fall and important state-level decisions that can impact Jackson in the works, it is more important than ever to communicate with elected leaders. The training session will include information on how to write short letters to the editor, longer opinion editorials as well as the technical aspects of public testimony and the use of science in public debate. In addition, Keith Gingery, the Jackson Hole representative for the state legislature, will be on hand to talk about his experiences as the recipient and evaluator of public input. This event is free and open to the public.
